Ame's Army

At the helm of Ame’s Army is 21 year old Ame Barnbrook. She was born with the lower half of her left leg. To the best of our knowledge, Ame Barnbrook is the world’s most disabled sailor vying for Paralympic GOLD in London 2012.

Prior to the Paralympics, Ame has set a goal of winning the 2010 World Championship to be held at Medemblik, Holland.

The supporters of Ame, "Ame’s Army" are ordinary people just like you and me; people who have decided to make a difference to the world. People who want to see Ame achieve her dreams, people who have made a financial contribution to make this happen. Everyone who supports Ame is part of Ame's Army.

To support Ame and her Team "Ame's Army", go to her website www.amesarmy.com.au and make a donation. Every little bit counts.

On July 4, 1988 Ame was born with Phocomelia. She has only the lower half of her left leg, a small foot and three toes. Ame uses her three toes for eating, writing, playing the trumpet and fulfilling her passion for sailing. Ame started sailing in the Access program at the age of seven.

In Ame’s own words,

“It’s about what I can do, not what I can’t do. My disability is continually judged before my abilities have been recognized and I like to prove people wrong.

Now, aged 21, Ame’s achievements are staggering – already winner of numerous national and international sailing regattas, recipient of an Australian Sports Medal, winner of the Sue Fear Award for outstanding sporting achievements, a university Degree of Creative Arts, as well as being an expert trumpet player.

PLEASE HELP AME ACHIEVE HER DREAMS ......
